According to CA Technologies and cnet, a new Android Trojan has been discovered that records your phone conversations.
The malware only runs after users install it onto their Android-based telephone devices. To coax users into doing so, the Trojan mimics a standard installation screen for legitimate applications. If users click “install,” a configuration file is added to the handset with “key information about the remove server and the parameters,” suggesting that the calls can be accessed over the Web by the malware’s creator.
According to sources, once a user places a call, the software starts by recording the conversation onto the device’s installed SD card in a directory called “shanghou/callrecord.” CA Technologies stated that the conversation is saved as an ARM file.
Other recent malware found on the Android system includes, a version of the DroidDream Trojan, another Trojan designed to steal bank passcodes sent over SMS was discovered, and this particular Trojan is designed to run on its own without the user starting the application.
How to keep yourself safe?
Only download and install applications from trusted sources. Users should also examine permissions to ensure they match up with the respective application’s features. You can also download a respected antivirus software to safeguard yourself from most threats.

Christopher's mention reminds me of a Jim Belushi movie I saw where he was a writer running around at a college reunion with a microcorder; I mention this in tune with an I read in WD where the suggested writers pay close attention and even record conversations (WD did mention gaining persmission; character was ruthlessly incog, and got caught much to the dismay).
