Yesterday, Tuesday, Microsoft revealed the first tablets running on Windows 8, and provided us a ton of new details about the newest Windows operating system.  Personally I absolutely love the new interface, so let us look at the takeaways that you can look forward to with the newest Windows OS, Windows 8.

What Happened to my Icons?

In the picture above you see a “smart phone” type application menu, this is because the days of booting a PC to a desktop full of icons, file folders and Recycle Bin are over! You will still have your desktop, just modified, it’s represented as the mobile type interface which so many of us are now becoming so familiar with.  The above picture “IS” your new desktop.  This allows for a more open source for developers to deliver a more “user wanted” applications, and, you are able to see the information you want without opening multiple applications to see the information desired; for example, please take a look at the “WEATHER” application (bottom row, third from the left) you can actually see the temperature without opening the application.  Look familiar? It should, it is very similar to most of the mobile applications we use everyday already… Just on a PC.  These “Start” applications will be able to be utilized by all social networking posts, e-mails, calendar events, and photos.  Getting excited yet?

8 is Made for Touch Screens

Windows 8′s HUGE overhaul is a result of the rise in tablets, not to mention attempting to continue to compete with Apple’s iPad.  To stay competitive, Microsoft needed an operating system that is easy, but Microsoft cannot just discontinue the very familiar versions of Windows and all of the current software they support.  So, Windows 8 is an interactive new solution that was built with tablets in mind, but with enhancements that integrate many of the previous versions of Windows and it’s software, like Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Have you been looking for a tablet at the right price? The HP TouchPad has now been permanently cut to $399 in an attempt to dominate the consumer tablet market.

This Tablet, the 16GB TouchPad was cut briefly from $499 to $399 has now been permanently cut as you can see above on the HP.com website.

Yesterday HP confirmed “HP continually evaluates pricing for its products and is pleased to permanently extend its back-to-school promotion on the HP TouchPad.”  the company said in a statement. “Now consumers can have all the benefits of webOS-multitasking, Synergy, Just Type, and access to the thousands of apps in the App Catalog for $399 (16GB) $499 (32GB).

What will this new price do for other companies offering the (16GB) tablet?  Price War? That remains to be seen as Android, Blackberry, Samsung and other tablet companies are offering their (16GB) still at the $499 price tag.

The HP TouchPad Wi-Fi (16GB) offers a 9.7″ LED backlit touch display with high-gloss finish with a scratch-resistance coating, Front-facing 1.3MP camera and digital microphone for video chat, WiFi and Bluetooth, and many features that you can purchase separately.

If you are already using Google+ (like many of our followers) or waiting for that invite, below are some neat features that will allow you to use the site like the professionals, without being one.

Neat Google+ (Plus) Features

1. Enable High Definition (HD) Chat Feature

Google+ (plus) hangout feature enables users to chat with up to 10 friends in your Google+ (plus) circles in a single session.  The video chat is set to standard definition (SD) by default but if you have “better than average” internet connection and a HD webcam, you can enable the HD feature.

On the Google+ (plus) home page, there is the chat option in the left sidebar. Take your mouse over the chat option and you will see an triangle pointing down appear. Click it, go to setting. A window will give the option with the check box saying Enable high-resolution video.

Get Google+  (plus) notification updates for your Google+ (plus) account as a text message on your mobile phone free of cost.

Click the setting icon on the top right corner of the screen and select Google+ settings. In the Google+ tab can set the delivery preferences. In the preferences you can see the email where the updates are sent and you can configure your mobile phone there. You can also select which kind of updates you want via SMS and email separately.

You can style the text you enter in the Google+ (plus) status updates. For Bold ad asterisk before and after the word (e.g.- *MABIAA*), for strikethrough, add a dash before and after the work (e.g. -MABIAA-). For Italics, add underscore both before and after the word.

Just like it says, backup your Google+ (plus) data.

Go to the setting on the top right corner of the Google+ (plus) page and click Google+ settings. Select Data liberation.

If you have different Google account for Google+ (plus), Gmail, Doc’s, and other Google products then you can sign-in all the the accounts in the same web browser and can comfortably switch between the accounts.

Let Google+ (plus) users know about your other social networking accounts. Google lets you connect to accounts such as Twitter, Plaxo, Facebook, LinkedIn, Hotmail, Yahoo!, Flickr and more.

Go to the setting on the top right corner of the Google Plus page and click Google+ (plus)settings. Select Connected accounts and connect other accounts with it.

Some of the reat features of Google+ is the integration of Google, Inc.’s social services like Google Profiles, and Google Buzz. There is also, new social services called, Circles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Huddles.

The malware only runs after users install it onto their Android-based telephone devices. To coax users into doing so, the Trojan mimics a standard installation screen for legitimate applications. If users click “install,” a configuration file is added to the handset with “key information about the remove server and the parameters,” suggesting that the calls can be accessed over the Web by the malware’s creator.

According to sources, once a user places a call, the software starts by recording the conversation onto the device’s installed SD card in a directory called “shanghou/callrecord.” CA Technologies stated that the conversation is saved as an ARM file.

Other recent malware found on the Android system includes, a version of the DroidDream Trojan, another Trojan designed to steal bank passcodes sent over SMS was discovered, and this particular Trojan is designed to run on its own without the user starting the application.

How to keep yourself safe?

Only download and install applications from trusted sources. Users should also examine permissions to ensure they match up with the respective application’s features. You can also download a respected antivirus software to safeguard yourself from most threats.

Running on Windows 7, Android operating systems, the new Lenovo tablets are hitting the market strong.

The Chinese based, performance computer company, Lenovo Group Ltd. unveiled three tablet devices in a plan to sell globally, expanding its tablet push past China and finally compete in a device category led by Apple Inc.’s iPad.

You will be able to choose either Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS, or Google’s Android operating system, and they are looking around the same price as iPad.

Lenovo, now joining Samsung and Blacberry (Research In Motion)  in offering tablets, started selling the new products in China back in March.  Newest updates that Lenovo is looking to get into more of the mobile market, including smartphones.

Two of the three tablets are currently for sale and all of the tablets will offer a 10.1 inch touchscreen.  The first is the IdeaPad Tablet K1 (Consumer Tablet), the ThinkPad Tablet for business users, and the IdeaPad Tablet P1 for home and office users.  The unreleased tablet, the IdeaPad P1 will use Windows 7 and will launch in the fourth quarter of 20121.  The other two tablets are using the latest “Honeycomb” version of Android OS.  They will be available in the United States next month and world wide in the third quarter.

A 32-gigabyte version of the K1 consumer tablet is said to sell for $499 and can be ordered starting Wednesday July 20.

A 16-gigabyte version of the business tablet with Wi-Fi wireless capability will sell for $479. Lenovo will release versions compatible with third-generation cellular networks “shortly,” it said. Apple sells its iPad 2 starting at $499.

Lenovo will enter a “regular release cycle” for tablets devices that will include new product announcements next year, Lenovo Chief Operating Officer Rory Read said in an interview.

Lenovo early next year is also likely to reveal the next generation of its IdeaPad U1 hybrid device, Read said. That device, which Lenovo says it launched in China along with the LePad tablet, includes a keyboard base into which the tablet can slide to operate like a laptop.

Google continues to add new features to help make the most of its popularity.  One of the new features even puts one of our older posts out of date, the new Google + address book upload; you can now upload address books from Outlook, Mac, and other web based emails services.  In addition, Google has released an official iPhone application making the newest and fastest iPhone application release in the app store history.

Google, even after the newest update of over 18 million users is still not happy.  Resources say that Google wants more famous users and are currently publishing a celebrity acquisition plan to increase the popular users.

Not sure if you have noticed, but even though Google + has many Facebook features, Facebook is doing their own upgrades.  New “Group” layouts, chat availability, and mobile app features are favoring many of new Google + features.  We will update on the newest features shortly, stay tuned!

Since the launch of Google+, we have heard a number of questions relating to the new services and functions, so, we have put together a beginning of “What is Google+ (Google Plus).

Google unveiled the new social networking service on June 28, 2011, in an invite-only “field testing” phase.  The next day, initial users were allowed to invite friends, as long as they met the criteria of Google, Inc.’s terms of service, to create there own accounts.   Since that time, Google, Inc. continues to release and suspend invitations as the demand to join Google+ has been great.

Some of the Great features of Google_ is the integration’s of Google, Inc.’s social services like Google Profiles, and Google Buzz.  There is also, new social services called “Circles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Huddles.  One stipulation is seen so far; Google+ will be available as a desktop application and as a mobile application; however, only on the Android and iOS operating systems, is this Google’s attempt to rival Facebook and their social network?

What is a Google Circle?
Circles enable you to organize contacts into groups for sharing photos, posts, and information.

What is a Hangout?
Hangouts is Google’s newest addition to the chat and voice services.  You can log on and facilitate group video chats.  Keep in mind you can only “Hangout” with 10 people maximum at any given time.

What is Google Sparks?
Google Sparks is a “Google Search” that enables you to identify topics that you might find interesting and want to share with others.

What is Google Stream?
Google Stream is the “wall” of Google’s social service. Very similar to Facebooks news feed.  It allows people in your circles to view your posts and updates.

What is this +1 ?
Google’s +1 is Google’s version of Facebook’s “Like” .

Have you had a chance to download Google + for Android?  Make sure you are aware of the “Instant Upload”.  The instant upload actual syncs your phones photo/video gallery to a private folder in your Google + account.

1. First part is to log into your yahoo! account, if you do not have one, create one.  Once you are in your yahoo! mail, go to your Contacts and find the button labeled Tools (or if you get the Popular Tools import contacts) and click it.

2. Make sure when you click the facebook button, if you have contacts in any other tools feel free to import them as well.

3.  Once you have imported all of the contacts from all of the systems you require, go back to the tools account and export.

4. Make sure when you export your contacts you export them in a CSV format.

5. Once you have the required files, log into your Google, Gmail account and go to your Contacts tab.  Once at the Contacts tab, go to More Actions tab and find the Import Link.

6. Finally, once you get the Import Contacts popup, Choose your file and the group you would like to add them into and Import.  Congratulations, you know have all of your facebook friends and any other contacts imported into your Gmail account.

Lastly, what now you ask?  Well go to your +YOURNAME and on to your Circles.  Once you are there you will see a link that says import contacts, click it and KABOOM!
